On Sunday, the Uttar Pradesh government announced that the Maha Kumbh area will become a new district for the 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela, and it will be called Maha Kumbh Mela district.
The decision was an important step to manage the religious event next January. It aims to make sure there is good coordination for transport, security, and services for the pilgrims in Prayagraj.
A special team will take care of the new district, managing preparations and services during the Mela.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath explained that this action shows the government’s dedication to bettering the experience for devotees and managing resources effectively.
The government has announced that the order will begin immediately.
Prayagraj will have the powers as an Executive Magistrate, District Magistrate, and Additional District Magistrate according to Section-14(1). The District Magistrate will also have powers from the Indian Civil Defense Code, 2023, and can use the powers of the Collector in all cases according to the government order.
The Maha Kumbh that happens every 12 years, will start in January 2025, and preparations are being made to welcome pilgrims from India and around the world.
